Trinity Crochet Square

I created this square as part of the Sampler Poncho CAL, which was hosted by Itchin’ For Some Stitchin’. This square is smaller than most of my typical squares since it was made for the Sampler Poncho. There are instructions for a 7×7 or 8×8 square.

Gauge

7.5 trinity stitches=4 inches

14 rows=4 inches

Finished Measurements

7″×7″ and 8″×8″

Materials

1 skein, Knit Picks Mighty Stitch, or worsted weight yarn

J-6mm hook

Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Ch=chain

SC=single crochet

Special Stitches

Trinity stitch (tr-st)=Insert hook in previous stitch,yo, pull up a loop. (2 loops on hook)(insert hook in next stitch,yo, pull up a loop) twice.(4 loops on hook) Yo, pull through all 4 loops on hook.Yo, pull through loop making a ch- 1.

This pattern includes instructions for a 7×7 and 8×8 square.

Instructions

7×7 square

Chain 28.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook. Tr-st in each chain until last chain. Sc in last ch. Turn.

Row 2-24: Ch 1. Sc in sc. Tr-st across until last stitch. Sc in sc. Turn.

Fasten off.

8×8 square

Chain 32.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook. Tr-st in each chain until last chain. Sc in last ch. Turn.

Row 2-28: Ch 1. Sc in sc. Tr-st across until last stitch. Sc in sc. Turn.

Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. Block using preferred method.
